Topic of Research Seminar: Entropic Formalism in Physics : From Thermodynamics to Information Theory

Abstract: The notion of entropy has very special significance in the description of numerous phenomena in the Nature, especially in the areas of thermodynamics, statistical physics, classical and quantum information theory, and in the estimation theory. In this talk, I shall introduce fundamental concepts of entropy, originating from thermodynamics and then progressing through statistical physics to advanced application, such as, information theory and estimation theory (quantum metrology and quantum sensing)
