Seminars and Workshops Quark-Gluon Plasma: Melting Neutrons at the LHC

Topic of Research Seminar: Quark-Gluon Plasma: Melting Neutrons at the LHC

Abstract: Under conditions of extremely high temperature and density, nuclear matter melts down to form a new state of matter which we call the quark-gluon plasma. Particle colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the Relativistic Heavy Ion collider at Brookhaven, can produce QGP by colliding nuclei of heavy elements at relativistic speeds. QGP is also found within cores of Neutron stars. In this seminar we will discuss how QGP is produced in nuclear collisions at LHC and ways that we use to probe it.
