Topic Research Seminar: Advancing Surgical Excellence Through Research & Collaboration

Abstract: Thermochemical materials (TCMs) have appeared as a hopeful solution for effective and sustainable energy storage due to their capability to release and store heat via reversible chemical reactions. Unlike conventional storage systems, TCMs provide high energy density, long-term storage ability, and negligible thermal losses, making them perfect for applications in solar energy storage, manufacturing waste heat recovery, and thermal management systems. This study explores the potential of several TCMs, including metal oxides, hydroxides, carbonates, and hydrates, concentrating on their reaction mechanisms, thermal stability, and energy storage efficiency. It discusses the role of reaction kinetics, phase transitions, and material alterations in improving storage performance. Unusual attention is given to calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and iron-based compounds, indicating outstanding reversibility and thermal stability. Further research into material design, system integration, and large-scale implementation is essential to unlock their full potential.
