Seminars and Workshops Effect of Growth Temperature on Structure, Morphology, and Optical Properties of ZnO NPs for Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine Blue (Rh-B)

Topic of Research Seminar: Effect of Growth Temperature on Structure, Morphology, and Optical Properties of ZnO NPs for Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine Blue (Rh-B)

Abstract: This is novel study, exhibits typical ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) with wurtzite hexagonal crystal structure is conducted, higher degree of crystallinity is achieved via coprecipitation at different growth temperatures. The variation in reaction temperature is significantly altering the nanostructures of ZnO NPs. The morphological, structural, and size variations are studied by Xay-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), and UV-Visible spectroscopy. The detailed study on crystal structure is conducted, texture co-efficient, percentage crystallinity, and local strains in unit cell are analysed. The particle size and morphology vary with increase in growth temperature. The morphological shift from nanosheets to nanospheres is evaluated in perspective of crystal defect and oxygen deficiency. The red shift is obverse with decrease in band gap of ZnO NPs in UV spectra. The 45°C ZnO NPs exhibits outstanding performance in photodegradation of synthetic dye rhodamine B (RhB) at ambient temperature and pressure. The surface area is increased to 41.141 m2/g by studying samples in Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). The photodegradation study of ZnO NPs and possible reasons of the shift in performance is discussed. Photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra shows the peak at 400 nm.
