Topic of Research Seminar: Exact Solutions of Plasma Equations and Creation of Astrophysical Jets

Abstract: Physical mechanism for the generation of jet-like flows in plasmas is investigated. Exact analytical solutions of two fluid ideal plasma equations have been found by choosing particular spatial profiles of density and temperatures. The quasi-neutral plasma $(n_e \simeq n_i =n)$ is assumed to be in a non-equilibrium state $T_i\neq T_e$. It is pointed out that the seed magnetic field and plasma vorticity are created simultaneously by the gradients of density and temperatures. If ions are assumed to be static then the mechanism of the plasma flow generation is killed. Hence Biermann battery mechanism is revisited. The physical model and mathematical formalism can explain the creation of plasma jets at astrophysical and laboratory scales. For illustration, the model is applied to the generation of solar spicules.
