Topic of Research Seminar: Good Lab Quality Control (QC) Practices
Abstract: Good Laboratory Practice contains a set of principles that provides a framework within which laboratory studies are planned, performed, monitored, recorded, reported and archived. GLP Quality Control practices help assure regulatory authorities that the data submitted are a true reflection of the results obtained during the study and can therefore be confidence upon when marking risk/safety assessment. Quality Control (QC) is the backbone of any Pathology Laboratory. QC is of two types:
- Internal Quality Control (IQC): It is run on daily basis by the lab staff to monitor the day-to-day output of lab results.
- External Quality Assessment (EQAS) – also known as Proficiency Testing (PT) is the ‘Interlaboratory Comparison’ carried out by an external agency involving several dozens or hundreds of laboratories.
