Topic of Research Seminar: On the Construction of Carter-Penrose Diagrams
Abstract: Carter-Penrose diagrams are the 2-dimensional extensions of the time like 2-surfaces. These are the collection of blocks, which are joined in an appropriate way, and are also known as block diagrams. Carter-Penrose diagrams are useful to understand the light cone structure and it’s properties. A procedure systemized by Martin Walker is used here to construct the Carter-Penrose diagrams for asymptotically flat spacetimes. Carter-Penrose diagrams of the Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordstorm and Kerr spacetimes are discussed here.
