Topic of Research Seminar: Simplified Finite Difference Method for Solving Non-Linear Boundary Value Problems

Abstract: Finite Difference Method for solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs) will be presented. Finite Differences are by far the easiest numerical method to understand and implement when tackling differential equations, for problems that satisfy its structured discretization assumptions, and can be found to be useful in other domains when we need to estimate derivatives. Another advantage is the possibility to easily obtain high-order approximations, and hence to achieve high-order accuracy of thespatial discretization. Since your domain is structured in some way, you can apply Finite Differences and get very simple numerical schemes and in turn very simple, easy to debug codes. And with that, we get some good solutions to the differential equations given to you that satisfies the stability criteria. Here we apply finite difference method on different problems and compare the results numerically and graphically.
