Seminars and Workshops Symmetric and Asymmetric Cryptography

Topic of Research Seminar: Symmetric and Asymmetric Cryptography

Abstract: This seminar is an introduction to the fascinating world of cryptography, with a focus on public-key cryptography. The first section covers modular arithmetic and various ciphers. In the second section, we will explore essential number theory concepts such as prime numbers, and modular arithmetic. Next, we will delve into the RSA cryptosystem, which is one of the most widely used public-key cryptosystems in practice. We will then study public-key cryptosystems based on the discrete logarithm problem, which includes some algebraic concepts and the discrete logarithm problem itself. Finally, we will discuss the Elgamal encryption scheme, which is a popular public-key cryptosystem that provides a secure way to transmit messages over an insecure channel. By the end of this seminar, we will have a solid understanding of the underlying mathematical concepts and algorithms that make modern cryptography possible.
