Topic of Research Seminar: X-ray photoemission Spectroscopy and it’s Applications

Abstract: X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS) is a powerful analytical technique used to investigate the chemical composition, electronic states, and surface properties of materials. This talk will explore the fundamental principles of XPS, including its working mechanism and the interpretation of spectra for chemical state analysis. We will discuss its wide range of applications across various fields such as materials science, energy storage, catalysis, and semiconductors. Emphasis will be placed on how XPS can be utilized to study surface chemistry, thin film coatings, and the electronic properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials. By examining case studies and recent advancements, this presentation aims to highlight the crucial role of XPS in understanding the surface and interfacial phenomena that influence material performance and development.
